Accessibility Awareness Day Poster 2020

New Format for 2020:

10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – CREATE: Accessible Content Pop-Up Tables

Focussing on educating how we can all ensure the items we create are accessible to everyone, this series of interactive activities will introduce UWindsor students, faculty, staff and visitors to the new toolkit cards designed to assist with all your creative efforts.  Each toolkit card focuses on a different aspect of creating accessible content in Excel, Word, Outlook, Social Media, Print material and more.  Designed as reminder tools to help you with your day-to-day creations, build your kit to take with you.  Pop-up displays will be featured in the CAW Student Centre Commons area and the Leddy Library.   Pick up a passport, visit our tables and participate in the activity and enter for your chance to win a prize.  Copies of the toolkit cards and passport cards are available at both locations.

11:00 a.m.  – 12:00 p.m. / 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Introduce yourself to Read & Write and EquatIO software

Stop by the Student Collaboratory Space located on the first floor of the Leddy Library to learn about two exciting new software tools which have been made available to all students, staff and faculty at UWindsor through a five (5) year license.

As part of an Enabling Accessibility Fund Project with funding from the Ministry of Employment and Social Development Canada and the University of Windsor these software applications are now available.

Read & Write is a literacy application that supports everyday tasks like reading text out loud, understanding unfamiliar words, researching assignments and proofing written work.  This software is available through the myUWindsor portal, allowing users to download and use independently.

EquatIO is an exciting new math (STEM) component software which supports learning mathematical content which has traditionally presented great difficulty for screen readers to interpret and support.
